Focus and Scope

The "form of the city", this is how the novice Latinist would translate the title of FORMA CIVITATIS: but that meaning refers rather to the term "forma urbis", while in Latin "forma civitatis" means precisely "the law of citizenship". Yet the Journal feeds on this significant assonance with the Latin language and, playing with the form already in the title, it proposes to publish scientific contributions in  English, characterized by the application of innovative and experimental methods, on the themes that they range from urban morphology to history, the theory of form, architectural and restoration projects, without excluding, however, archaeology. The FORMA CIVITATIS, International Journal of Urban and Territorial Morphological Studies (IJUTMS) aims to publish yearly online scientific papers in English, both online (open access) and in printed format, pertaining to the study of urban and rural formation processes, with a wide and interdisciplinary approach and a specific focus on innovative research methodologies.

Peer Review Process

All submissions will be subject to a rigorous anonymous peer review (double blind). The peer review process is administered by the editorial board. Contributors will be notified if their contribution is accepted, rejected or accepted with revisions required. The peer review is executed by at least 2 reviewers, screening the paper for compliance with academic writing standards, if the submission follows the authors’ guidelines, and evaluating its structure, methodology and scientific quality. The peer review process is recorded in a "review form response" log.

Publication Frequency

Journal items will be published collectively, as part of an issue with its own Table of Contents. Issues are published yearly, both in open access (Online ISSN: 2748-3134) and printed (Print ISSN: 2748–2812). Each issue is dedicated to a specific topic and also has a title and a dedicated ISBN code. This is an open access journal, which means that all content is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. This is in accordance with the BOAI definition of open access.

Archiving

This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. More...

Plagiarism Policy

All submissions are screened for plagiarism as part of the peer review. The plagiarism control is executed by the peer reviewers and documented in the «peer review response» log.

Licensing Policy

Forma Civitatis permits the following licenses: CC BY. Authors publishing under any license allowed by the journal retain all copyrights and publishing rights.

Publication fees

Forma Civitatis is a strictly scientific journal and does not charge contributors for publication fees or APCs (Author Processing Charges). The journal does not charge authors for any other costs, such as editorial processing charges, language editing fees, colour charges, submission fees, page charges, membership fees, print subscription costs, or other supplementary charges.
